About This Image

On my last visit to London, I had a somewhat unique opportunity, at least for those of us who don’t call London home.

On my first day there, the street that crosses Westminster Bridge by the Palace of Westminster was closed to vehicles. I had apparently just missed some sort of street race. I don’t know about you but I never dreamed of walking down the middle of that bridge. As you can see, there are people in the streets but no cars. If you’ve been to London, you know this is a rare treat!

That’s how I got the photo used as the basis for this picture of the great clock tower that we all know informally as Big Ben. I know there are anglophiles out there having slight convulsions after reading that. They know as well as I do that Big Ben is really the name of the bell. The tower has more recently been named in honor of Queen Elizabeth II. I know all that as well, but it’s hard to argue with the legions of people who look up at this British tower and instinctively know it as Big Ben.

I decided when editing this photo of that beautiful old tower that I wanted to go for a more vintage feel. I wanted to create a print that would compliment the fantastic Victorian Gothic revival architecture of the Westminster Palace. I feel these golden toned textures really create a true sense of vintage art – perhaps an old piece of Big Ben artwork found in the depths of Grandma’s trunk.

Note: The Palace of Westminster and adjoining Westminster Abbey are part of a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site as well as being an enduring part of English Heritage.

How Can I Help?

At the end of the day, it’s important to me that you can put a face with the art you’re considering purchasing through my site. Aside from the print vendor who ultimately prints and ships your order, this is a one man show. The person who made the art is the same one who is typing this message and the one who will answer your questions if you drop me a note.

You are not a number and I care that you are happy with whatever art you might buy here. I’m here if you’d like to ask questions before or after purchasing. And I’m also happy to work with you where possible to customize the work you’re buying. Maybe you’d like a tweak to the shape of a print to fit in with your existing wall art. Or you’d like to add a little nod to someone special in it? Just ask! I also keep a running list of subjects I don’t currently have but people are seeking. So if you enjoy the style of my work but didn’t find quite what you were looking for, please do let me know.

I’ve been an artist for 15 years now and most of that time it’s been my full-time passion. And it matters to both the endorphins in my brain and the food I put on the table for me (and my cats) that you find the experience of purchasing the products offered here to be a pleasure.
