About This Print
Camping on the banks of the Nile in a traditional Egyptian Sailboat, the Felucca seen in this print, was an amazing experience. It afforded the chance to really soak in the raw natural beauty of the Egyptian landscape. I still look at this print based on my last Nile sunset and it feels like something out of a dream. Doesn’t it look like the cover to an adventure story or perhaps the artwork for an epic movie poster? There was something about standing on the banks of the Nile as the sun set on the horizon that had that same larger than life quality.
We were all preparing to board to our sailboat for to cross over to our camping spot for the night. I was predictably one of the last to board the felucca as I saw the sails filled with the light of that amazing Nile sunset. I had to pause and frame the shot that this print is based upon. In particular, I waited for someone to be in silhouette as they boarded the boat. That was the human element to my great adventure scene. Prepare to cast off the bowline, adventures await!
On another level, I love how timeless this Nile sunset print feels. The felucca has been a traditional boat on the waters of the Nile in much of living memory. Silhouetted against the setting sun, that beautiful old sailboat could have been pictured here hundreds of years ago just as well as today. I suppose some images are simply instantly classic.
Have you cruised the Nile on a traditional Egyptian sailboat? Or does this print speak to the adventurer within you? I would love to hear what you find most appealing about this colorful Nile Sunset print?
