About This Print
There was something about Galway that really appealed to me, but I really can’t explain why. I’d say it was the beautiful waterfront seen in this print, but my first night in Galway was almost a week before I took this photo. It was sleeting and the sun had set before we even arrived.
There was just some ineffable quality about Galway that tugged at my heart strings and convinced me to come back and spend close to half of my time in Ireland in this beautiful Irish city.
I took this photo shortly after my return to Galway. The first thing I did after getting checked in was to walk down to the waterfront. It would be the first of many times I walked along the harbor and admired this row of colorful houses with their great seaside view of Galway Bay.
And despite all those walks and a mountain of pictures, I think this sunset print from that first afternoon is probably my favorite. The warm light reflecting off those old homes and the pink dusk clouds is the way I will always remember Galway in my mind’s eye.
When I see this picture, I remember the cold sea air (note the ice!) and I can hear the gulls again. No doubt, this print encapsulates the Galway where I left my heart.
