Description
I had all but forgotten this little country store until recently. I think it's been closed most of my life, but the sign over the gable was a sign that we were there. This is the small community of Rose Hill, Alabama, where my father grew up and where his mother's family had called home for a couple of generations before that.
Since posting this new work, I've found out this was the J.L. Bryant Store when my father grew up in this rural Covington County community - it closed in 1975. The "Rose Hill General Store" sign apparently came later for reasons as yet unknown. But this work was more about the feeling than historical details. It very much reminds me of bygone days.
