About This Image

During my years living in the area, one of my favorite Atlanta skyscrapers was Suntrust Plaza. This impressive landmark building is part of Peachtree Center. Completed in 1992, it’s the second tallest Atlanta skyscraper behind the Bank of America building in nearby Midtown.

There’s just something about the blocky but sleek style of this Atlanta skyscraper that has always made it stand apart from the rest for me. Suntrust Plaza’s postmodern design reminds me of the sort of futuristic skyscraper you would see in the skyline of a movie matte painting for a sci-fi film. Can’t you imagine filming for a movie of that genre taking place right here? Set phasers to stun!

This particular Atlanta skyscraper owes its memorable design to architect John C. Portman, Jr. A 1950 Georgia Tech grad, his career has spanned decades which helped shape the core of Atlanta’s downtown skyline. And Suntrust Plaza is just one of a large portfolio of landmark buildings in the US and beyond. Originally named One Peachtree Center, Portman & Associates still has offices in this same Atlanta Skyscraper.

This Atlanta skyscraper print is based on photos from my last week living in the area. I took a long stroll through downtown and Midtown, mostly along Peachtree Street. I remember when I arrived outside the tower, I gazed almost straight upward and immediately felt this perspective on the building really accentuated the futuristic vibe that Suntrust Plaza has. There’s also a touch of the infinite here as the tower’s impressive 869 feet of height feels exaggerated to a great effect!

Have you also admired this Atlanta skyscraper? Or does the bold futurist vibe in this artwork speak to you on its own merit? I hope you might take a few moments to share your thoughts!

How Can I Help?

At the end of the day, it’s important to me that you can put a face with the art you’re considering purchasing through my site. Aside from the print vendor who ultimately prints and ships your order, this is a one man show. The person who made the art is the same one who is typing this message and the one who will answer your questions if you drop me a note.

You are not a number and I care that you are happy with whatever art you might buy here. I’m here if you’d like to ask questions before or after purchasing. And I’m also happy to work with you where possible to customize the work you’re buying. Maybe you’d like a tweak to the shape of a print to fit in with your existing wall art. Or you’d like to add a little nod to someone special in it? Just ask! I also keep a running list of subjects I don’t currently have but people are seeking. So if you enjoy the style of my work but didn’t find quite what you were looking for, please do let me know.

I’ve been an artist for 15 years now and most of that time it’s been my full-time passion. And it matters to both the endorphins in my brain and the food I put on the table for me (and my cats) that you find the experience of purchasing the products offered here to be a pleasure.
