About This Image

I was so intrigued by the streets of the little English Village of Lacock in Wiltshire. It was amazing how timeless this place was. It felt as if you’d turn a corner of the village in this print and find people dressed in medieval garb. It’s amazingly authentic because it is truly a classic English village.

There’s an area of England known as the Cotswolds, of which Lacock is part. This was an area that prospered in medieval times and then declined. In the case of Lacock, it thrived and grew on the wool trade. It hit its zenith centuries ago and when the industry died, it was as if the village was encased in amber. The village never modernized.

In the modern day that became a boon to them because they had a quaint old-timey charm that you really can’t manufacture. Today of course as the tourist trade has boomed, they have modern conveniences but they’ve gone to great lengths to keep the aesthetic charm of an old English village in Lacock and elsewhere in the Costswolds.

I’ve read that a lot of period dramas and other movies are filmed in Lacock. Among those is ‘Pride and Prejudice’ in 1995 and in more recent times, the ‘Harry Potter’ movies and The ‘Other Boleyn Girl.’ With the knowledge of its cinematic history I was inspired to take Lacock back in time myself using that beautiful old medieval architecture as the basis for my own English Village fantasy. And it really does feel like I’ve managed to discover some old English village painting here. I’m quite proud of the result of my artwork for this quaint print.

Have you also wandered the streets of this Wiltshire village? Perhaps you recognize the Tudor architecture on this street from a film you enjoyed? Or, like me, you’re just a push-over for a print that has such a timeless charm?

How Can I Help?

At the end of the day, it’s important to me that you can put a face with the art you’re considering purchasing through my site. Aside from the print vendor who ultimately prints and ships your order, this is a one man show. The person who made the art is the same one who is typing this message and the one who will answer your questions if you drop me a note.

You are not a number and I care that you are happy with whatever art you might buy here. I’m here if you’d like to ask questions before or after purchasing. And I’m also happy to work with you where possible to customize the work you’re buying. Maybe you’d like a tweak to the shape of a print to fit in with your existing wall art. Or you’d like to add a little nod to someone special in it? Just ask! I also keep a running list of subjects I don’t currently have but people are seeking. So if you enjoy the style of my work but didn’t find quite what you were looking for, please do let me know.

I’ve been an artist for 15 years now and most of that time it’s been my full-time passion. And it matters to both the endorphins in my brain and the food I put on the table for me (and my cats) that you find the experience of purchasing the products offered here to be a pleasure.
