About This Image

Several years ago I spent a couple of nights in Asheville, North Carolina. I was on a road trip bound for Virginia. In the end, as is often the case for me, I wished I had more time to explore the city. As you can tell from this print I was quite inspired by the historic Asheville architecture.

As I was mainly going to see Biltmore Estate, I knew little about the city itself before I arrived that afternoon. I was excited to find that Asheville is a beautiful city. And I quickly discovered its reputation for embracing the arts is well deserved. The heart of downtown Asheville where I spent a brief afternoon was filled with music and people having a great time. And as I looked strolled around those downtown streets, I saw some truly grand old buildings including the historic brick skyscrapers featured in this Asheville architecture print.

Specifically these architectural details are from the landmark Jackson Building and its neighbor the Westall Building. Both of these early skyscrapers were built by the same architect but in very different architectural styles. The Jackson Building is in the Gothic Revival style and the Westall Building is in the Neo-Spanish Romanesque Revival style.

I loved the distinctively different bricks and details contrasting in such close proximity. Hence my determination to compose this Asheville architecture print in such a way that the viewer is almost obligated to compare the details of these Asheville landmarks. The end result is a fun and different architectural print.

Have you stood on Pack Square and looked up at the architecture of the historic Jackson and Westall buildings? Perhaps you are simply a fan of the architectural details in this Asheville print? I hope you will share what attracts you to this particular print.

How Can I Help?

At the end of the day, it’s important to me that you can put a face with the art you’re considering purchasing through my site. Aside from the print vendor who ultimately prints and ships your order, this is a one man show. The person who made the art is the same one who is typing this message and the one who will answer your questions if you drop me a note.

You are not a number and I care that you are happy with whatever art you might buy here. I’m here if you’d like to ask questions before or after purchasing. And I’m also happy to work with you where possible to customize the work you’re buying. Maybe you’d like a tweak to the shape of a print to fit in with your existing wall art. Or you’d like to add a little nod to someone special in it? Just ask! I also keep a running list of subjects I don’t currently have but people are seeking. So if you enjoy the style of my work but didn’t find quite what you were looking for, please do let me know.

I’ve been an artist for 15 years now and most of that time it’s been my full-time passion. And it matters to both the endorphins in my brain and the food I put on the table for me (and my cats) that you find the experience of purchasing the products offered here to be a pleasure.
