About This Image

I moved to Atlanta in the the late 1990’s and by that point in time the old Roxy on Roswell Road was already one of the well-known concert venues in town. I’m still not sure how it was a decade later when I left the Atlanta area altogether I had never seen a show there. Oh sure, I was scheduled to see one band there but they had to cancel. For some reason, it just seemed like it wasn’t meant to be.

Just before I left Atlanta, I read that the Roxy had closed its venerable doors with plans to renovate. That area of Buckhead was becoming ever more upmarket and I guess it was just a sure thing the Roxy’s day had passed. I’ve since heard it’s been re-branded as the Buckhead Theater, which was actually its original name from its days as a movie theater in 1930’s Atlanta. As you can tell, the Roxy dripped with period Neo-Baroque architectural details. The recent pictures I’ve seen of it suggest it has shed the colorful marquee and most of the accents of the Roxy of my memories.

Creating this photo-based artwork for this print was a bit of a labor of love. Even though I never went to the Roxy, it still reminds me of those first years out of college living inside the perimeter in Atlanta.

Ah, nostalgia! They say that you can’t go back but you can sure remember the past through rose-tinted glasses!

How about you? Did you haunt the old Roxy in its days as a music venue? Or maybe you arrived here because you have a yen for classic old movie theaters? Whether or not you’ve walked Roswell Road, there’s definitely a colorful feel of Americana in this particular print.

How Can I Help?

At the end of the day, it’s important to me that you can put a face with the art you’re considering purchasing through my site. Aside from the print vendor who ultimately prints and ships your order, this is a one man show. The person who made the art is the same one who is typing this message and the one who will answer your questions if you drop me a note.

You are not a number and I care that you are happy with whatever art you might buy here. I’m here if you’d like to ask questions before or after purchasing. And I’m also happy to work with you where possible to customize the work you’re buying. Maybe you’d like a tweak to the shape of a print to fit in with your existing wall art. Or you’d like to add a little nod to someone special in it? Just ask! I also keep a running list of subjects I don’t currently have but people are seeking. So if you enjoy the style of my work but didn’t find quite what you were looking for, please do let me know.

I’ve been an artist for 15 years now and most of that time it’s been my full-time passion. And it matters to both the endorphins in my brain and the food I put on the table for me (and my cats) that you find the experience of purchasing the products offered here to be a pleasure.
